Enrolling your employed or contracted Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants in the Louisiana Patient's Compensation Fund provides them and your corporate entity with protection under the Louisiana Medical Malpractice Act. 

If your practice or facility employs an advanced practice provider or other licensed healthcare provider who is not enrolled in the PCF, then the PCF requires the corporate entity to pay a corporate surcharge. If an employed provider is not enrolled in the PCF, and the practice does not pay a corporate surcharge, then the PCF may not cover the practice or facility for claims filed against the corporate entity.
