A LAMMICO subsidiary, the Medical Interactive Community (MI) website is your one-stop site for LAMMICO’s comprehensive library of complimentary online courses tailored to long-term care facilities.

Strokes are one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Strokes are prevalent in nursing home residents due to this population’s advanced age and multiple medical diagnoses which may put them at increased risk of a stroke. It is imperative that caregivers in long-term care recognize the signs that a resident may be having a stroke and quickly initiate emergency intervention to minimize the long-term effects of a stroke to the resident. This activity explores the causes of strokes and how to quickly recognize and provide intervention for the resident to optimize outcomes.

Upon completion, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the signs of a stroke.
  • If signs of a stroke are identified, initiate emergency intervention.

This course is 30 minutes and designed for certified nursing assistants, nurses and other staff working in long-term care settings. Other interested healthcare providers are welcome to participate. No CME/CNE/NAB credits apply.
