Joint Commission is introducing National Performance Goals (NPGs) a new chapter of standards that organizes requirements that rise above regulation into salient, measurable topics with clearly defined goals. On January 1, 2026, this new NPG chapter replaces the former National Patient Safety Goals. These new National Performance Goals are available for the Hospital and Critical Access Hospital accreditation programs.
