Administration Department

Position Summary: 
Develops, implements, administers, maintains and monitors the Company’s compensation, benefit and award programs, providing service and information to all participants and management. Collaborates with Director of HR and Administration in the strategy and design of all programs for LAMMICO and subsidiaries. Serves as a contributing member of the HR team in developing and supporting LAMMICO’s culture and business needs.

Reporting Relationship:
Reports directly to the Director of Human Resources and Administration

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Works in a cooperative manner with management, coworkers, customers, and vendors; supports  LAMMICO’s mission and vision in daily operations
  • Contributes to the development of the department’s strategic and operating planning and meets assigned target dates and objectives; helps ensure that department and company quality, service and productivity standards are met
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information
  • Collaborates with Director in design of company compensation and benefit programs; implements and maintains all company benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401k, life, LTD, wellness programs, tuition reimbursement, voluntary benefits, etc. Communicates eligibility and coverage information to employees
  • Liaison with all benefit vendors
  • Creates and updates benefit and compensation-related policies for Employee Handbook
  • Approves monthly benefit premium payments; reconciles with both payroll records and vendor invoices.
  • Performs quarterly reconciliation of benefit expenses with Accounts Payable
  • Administers FMLA benefits and short-term disability plan
  • Administers Workers' Compensation program, filing claims and working with LWCC representatives as appropriate
  • Monitors benefits program to ensure legal compliance and adherence to LAMMICO’s total reward philosophy; ensures all legally required filings for programs are submitted and distributed in a timely manner;  attends appropriate continuing education and conferences in order to stay abreast of laws and market trends
  • Monitors experience and utilization of all benefit plans; analyzes costs and develops recommendations for enhancement and improvement; prepares proposals for program changes to present to management
  • Educates employees with regard to compensation, benefits and HR policies
  • Responds to questions and works with management on policies, procedures, eligibility, and termination issues
  • Works with COBRA administrator to ensure appropriate notification and tracking of participants
  • Conducts and participates in benefits surveys and the analysis of related data
  • Prepares the annual compensation and benefits budgets and assists with the Administration Department budget
  • Approves reconciliation of  monthly flexible spending account bank statement
  • Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures recommending plan revisions as well as new plans that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and corporate objectives; coordinates implementation and provides guidance to management
  • Provides advice to management on pay decisions, policy and guideline interpretation, and job evaluation, including the design of creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs
  • Manages administration of all direct compensation programs (executive, exempt and nonexempt cash compensation programs including incentive plans); administers online compensation systems.
  • Supervises the participation in, conducts and/or purchases exempt and nonexempt salary surveys to ensure corporate compensation objectives are achieved
  • Creates, facilitates and tracks the annual merit and performance appraisal programs; responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and training of performance management software
  • Assists HR team in maintaining compliance with all state and federal employment laws
  • Collaborates with management to develop job descriptions; oversees maintenance of all
  • Acts as an integral part of the HR team, providing input on HR and company strategy
  • Performs special projects and process improvements as approved or assigned

Secondary Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Provides backup to other HR staff when needed
  • Participates in giving daily task instruction to the Human Resources Coordinator

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8-10 years Professional level human resources experience
  • 5 years’ experience in Employee Benefits, including health insurance and retirement plans
  • 2 years’ experience in Compensation practices
  • Previous experience using a human resource software management system
  • Ability to work effectively and manage outside consultants
  • Technology aptitude: effective use of Microsoft Office, ability to learn, utilize and gain productivity through technology, ability to assess and implement technology in the HR area; strong Excel proficiency
  • Strong customer focus and team orientation
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive company information
  • Commitment to continuing industry and individual functional education
  • Strong decision making skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact and work effectively with employees at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to manage time, set priorities and work independently; ability to organize, analyze, and interpret information

Education, Experience and Skills Desired:

  • Advanced degree
  • Exposure to payroll processing
  • Experience in employment law compliance and policy development
  • Counseling and/or employee relations experience
  • Designations in Human Resource and/or Benefits, Compensation, Project management or process implementation experience; Microsoft Project experience a plus
  • Insurance industry experience
