Marketing Representative

Position Summary:
Prospects for new business and calls on existing policyholders to answer questions/concerns and build relationships. Responsible for assisting in meeting or exceeding LAMMICO’s new business and retention objectives. Develops, leads, sells and retains quality business. Assists in the execution of company’s marketing and sales strategy. Monitors and reports on competitive, political and regional marketplace developments that may impact business. Develops and maintains relationships through day-to-day field contact with medical society partners, specialty associations, agents and customers in assigned territory.

Reporting Relationship:
Reports directly to the Director of Marketing; works closely with the Underwriting Department on new business and policyholder retention

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Works in a cooperative manner with management, coworkers, customers, and vendors; seeks to support  LAMMICO’s mission and vision in daily operations
  • Contributes to the development of the department’s strategic and operating planning and meets assigned target dates and objectives; helps ensure that department quality, service and productivity standards are met
  • Plans and coordinates sales and marketing activities in conjunction with Director of Marketing
  • Assists in the creation of solicitation letters, phones and meets with prospective insureds 
  • Meets with new and existing policyholders to answer questions/concerns and build relationships 
  • Evaluates and advises clients regarding insurance needs and suggests changes as appropriate 
  • Provides quotes on new and existing business 
  • Identifies new marketing opportunities and monitors the marketplace 
  • Manages relationships with assigned agents and provides internal reporting on quality of submissions and agent satisfaction 
  • Reports on changing market trends/opportunities, conditions, new ventures and available products to improve the offering of the Company 
  • Attends trade shows, medical conventions, medical society, specialty association, residency programs and professional group meetings as assigned; analyzes and offers recommendations for future attendance 
  • Attends and makes presentations at medical society general membership meetings, medical specialty groups, medical clinics, residency programs and other related health care groups 
  • Ensures that service and quality standards for new business renewals, endorsements, and written and verbal inquiries are met 
  • Completes special assignments as assigned on time and of high quality (i.e., marketing plans, territory/parish questionnaires, customer surveys, etc.) 
  • Participates in company meetings, committees, and training opportunities 
  • Evaluates and advises clients regarding insurance needs and suggests changes as appropriate 
  • Identifies and reports on changing market trends/opportunities, conditions, new ventures and available products to improve the offering of the Company

Secondary Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Other responsibilities and special projects as assigned
  • Maintains adequate files for all prospective clients
  • Updates and maintains LAMMICO’s selected contact management system
  • Assists in providing work direction to clerical staff
  • Assists in researching and maintaining comparative rating and marketing ideas

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • Property and Casualty (P&C) agents license (or obtain within 2 months of initial employment)
  • Prior sales or agency experience
  • Strong customer focus and team orientation
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive company information
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact and work effectively with employees at all levels within the organization 
  • Ability to manage time, set priorities and work independently; ability to organize, analyze and interpret information
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Programs
  • Available for minimal overnight travel
  • Available to attend business functions on weekends
  • Must have continuous and uninterrupted access to reliable transportation; must maintain driver’s license and insurance as required by state

Education, Experience and Skills Desired:

  • Medical related or insurance sales experience 
  • Insurance industry experience
  • Working knowledge of professional liability coverage
  • 3 or more years of experience in medical liability or multi-line P&C insurance including some agency related experience
  • 3-5 years of previous marketing experience
