Lecture Series I

"Diagnostic Error"
Presenter: Kenneth E. Rhea, MD, FASHRM

Description: Current medical literature and the Joint Commission have identified Diagnostic Error as the next focus for measures to improve patient safety. The journals say there is not very much known about Diagnostic Error. However, medical mutual insurance companies have been collecting malpractice claims data on this subject for decades. This live lecture series will present the top medical misadventures, the types and sources of diagnostic error, and risk management recommendations for reducing diagnostic error. It will also place diagnostic error in its correct context within the entire spectrum of malpractice claims causes.

Disclosure: Dr. Rhea and planning committee members have no relevant financial relationships to disclose.
